Main production methods of organic pigment red 122

There are three main production methods of organic pigment red 122. According to the raw materials or key intermediates used, they are divided into halogenated terephthalic acid method, hydroquinone or p-quinone method and dimethyl succinylsuccinate method.

  1. Halogenated terephthalic acid method: 2,5-dibromo or 2,5-dichloro can be produced by bromination or chlorination of p-xylene, and then oxidized to the corresponding terephthalic acid, and then combined with aniline or The derivatives are condensed and ring closed to prepare Pigment Red 122. This process was proposed by Sondoz Company. It has fewer steps, but there are side reactions between aromatic amines and chlorine atoms or -COOH. Usually double the amount of aromatic amines is used, of which 50% of the aromatic amines are neutralized to generate hydrogen chloride, and then the aromatic amines are neutralized to generate hydrogen chloride. The amine salt is separated and recycled. The three wastes are large, and with chlorine gas, the reaction is difficult to control.
  2. Hydroquinone or hydroquinone method: This process was developed by BASF. It prepares hydroquinone-2 from hydroquinone through the Kolbe-schmidtrc reaction and the reaction between hydroquinone and carbon dioxide. 5-dicarboxylic acid is then condensed with an aromatic amine in the presence of a vanadium salt catalyst in a methanol-water suspension medium using sodium chlorate solution, and then closed in concentrated sulfuric acid to obtain linear trans-quinacridonequinone. This product is reduced with aluminum powder in dilute sodium hydroxide to obtain Pigment Red 122. The disadvantage is that the cost of raw material hydroquinone is high and it pollutes the environment, so it has little industrial significance.
  3. Dimethyl succinate (DMSS) method: Use dimethyl succinate to condense itself to generate DMSS, and then condense it with an aromatic amine and oxidize it to generate 2,5-bis-p-toluidine-p-phenylene dimethyl ester. Formic acid, and then closed the ring to obtain Pigment Red 122. This process was proposed by CIBA and is reasonable and simple to operate. However, the oxidant uses sodium m-nitrobenzene sulfonate. This chemical is not easy to be biochemically treated and post-processing is difficult.

Synthesis

  1. Condensation reaction: First add an appropriate amount of ethanol with a mass fraction of 90-95% into the condensation kettle, stir, and add succinyl dimethyl succinate, then add the melted p-toluidine to the condensation kettle, and add an appropriate amount of mass fraction 30% hydrochloric acid, heat up and reflux, keep warm for 30-40 minutes, cool down to 48-50°C, stop stirring, slowly add an appropriate amount of 30% sodium hydroxide solution, start stirring again, raise the temperature to 68-70°C, and add an appropriate amount dropwise For hydrogen peroxide with a mass fraction of 27%, the dripping time is 50-60 minutes. When the dripping is completed, the reaction is completed;
  2. Dilution, neutralization and rake drying: Transfer the condensation liquid into the dilution kettle, add water to dilute it, and add an appropriate amount of silica bath, control the temperature above 50°C, stir, filter while hot, remove impurities, and collect the filtrate to In the neutralization tank, keep it at 40-45°C, add hydrochloric acid dropwise to adjust the pH to 6.00-6.05, stir, press filter, collect the filtrate into the residual liquid tank, blow dry the filter cake with compressed air, add water to wash, and wash with water to The effluent water is clear, then blow dry, discharge the material, and send the material to a rake dryer for vacuum drying to obtain the intermediate product DTTA;
  3. Closing reaction: Put the solid acid into the reaction kettle, raise the temperature to 95-105°C, slowly add DTTA, control the temperature at 95-105°C, stir for 30-45min, raise the temperature to 117±1°C, and keep it warm for 20-30min , cool down to 95-105°C, filter out the solid acid for use, and close the reaction solution for hydrolysis;
  4. Hydrolysis, pigmentation and fine product drying: Add a certain amount of water to the hydrolysis tank in advance, and slowly add the closed reaction solution into the hydrolysis tank under stirring. The hydrolysis time is controlled at 20-30 minutes, and the hydrolysis is completed. Stir for 20-30 minutes, press filter, and wash the filter cake to pH 4-5. Put the crude product and ethanol with a mass fraction of 90-95% into the reaction kettle, heat it up to 78-80°C and reflux for a certain period of time, and then cool it to 48-50°C. Use liquid caustic soda to adjust the pH to 7.0, stir, press and filter, wash with water until neutral, discharge the material, and enter the van drying chamber for drying.
